She had made over 450 threats to the actress.
A woman in her 30s was recently sentenced to prison by a Seoul court for making hundreds of threatening and defamatory messages attacking a beloved actress.
On July 4, KST, the Seoul Eastern District Court sentenced a 35-year-old Ms. A to eight months in prison for continuously harassing actress Shin Se Kyung online and sending her graphic threats.

The court, presided over by Judge Lee Ho Dong, found Ms. A guilty of criminal threats and defamation, citing that the defendant’s actions caused significant psychological trauma to the actress. Between June and August 2024, Ms.
A targeted Shin on multiple online communities and posted over 450 threats and insults. Her posts included sexual, physical, and family-related insults, and even threats of an acid attack. Things got so out of hand that her threats were present across all online spaces dedicated to Shin Se Kyung and her dramas.
Despite Ms. A not carrying out any of her threats, the judge acknowledged that the sheer volume and nature of her messages constituted a serious crime. Although the prosecution sought a 2-year sentence, the court imposed a lighter penalty, citing the lack of physical execution of her threats.
