MBC’s upcoming drama “Mary Kills People” has unveiled a new teaser!
“Mary Kills People” follows the story of Woo So Jung (Lee Bo Young), an ER doctor who illegally assists terminally ill patients with euthanasia, and a detective who tracks her down. Lee Min Ki plays Jo Hyun Woo, a terminal cancer patient with no remaining treatment options.
The newly released teaser previews a dilemma regarding the right to choose at the end of life. The teaser begins with a voice briefing someone’s medical status: “Jo Hyun Woo, 30 years old, has a brain tumor, but surgery is impossible.” Woo So Jung and Jo Hyun Woo, who are introduced to each other, exchange suspicious glances.
Sitting face-to-face at a dinner table, Woo So Jung asks the heavy question, “Why did you suddenly decide you want euthanasia?” But Jo Hyun Woo calmly and emotionlessly replies, “I’ve tried everything, but nothing has changed.” The tension escalates as the scene shifts to Jo Hyun Woo losing consciousness and collapsing by the roadside while riding his motorcycle.
The atmosphere becomes even more intense as Jo Hyun Woo’s voice echoes, “I just want to stop.” Woo So Jung, with a look of deep concern, cradles the unconscious Jo Hyun Woo in her arms. As Jo Hyun Woo receives emergency treatment, his pale, resigned expression suggests he has given up on everything, heightening the sense of concern.
The words of Choi Dae Hyun (Kang Ki Young), “Everything fits your standards,” imply that Jo Hyun Woo somehow aligns with Woo So Jung’s conditions. As Jo Hyun Woo asks, “So, what should I do first?” the weighty phrase, “Choosing the final moment,” appears, leaving viewers eager to see what will unfold.
