JTBC’s upcoming weekend drama “Beyond the Bar” has offered a first look at its script reading session!
“Beyond the Bar” is an office drama that follows Kang Hyo Min (Jung Chaeyeon), a righteous and confident yet socially awkward rookie attorney at the law firm Yullim. Under the mentorship of Yoon Seok Hoon (Lee Jin Uk), a cold but exceptionally skilled partner attorney, Hyo Min grows into a true lawyer while navigating the challenges of the legal world.
Lee Jin Uk takes on the role of Yoon Seok Hoon, a partner attorney at the major law firm Yullim. Seok Hoon is a sharp strategist in court who prefers fresh interpretations over rigid logic. However, in front of those he cares about, he shows his warm and sincere side.
Jung Chaeyeon plays Kang Hyo Min, a rookie attorney in Yullim’s litigation team. Though she may seem clumsy at first, she proves her worth with quick intuition and adaptability in times of crisis.
Lee Hak Joo stars as Lee Jin Woo, an easygoing and charming associate attorney. He is someone who understands Seok Hoon’s intentions better than anyone and takes great care of junior attorneys, making him an indispensable figure within the firm.
Jeon Hye Bin will play Heo Min Jung, another associate attorney at Yullim. A late bloomer, Min Jung pursued her dream of becoming a lawyer later in life and succeeded in graduating from law school, confidently paving her own path. After joining Yullim, she establishes her presence with her trademark drive and initiative.
During the script reading, Lee Jin Uk embodied Seok Hoon’s commanding presence with his deep, composed tone, while Jung Chaeyeon brought out Hyo Min’s spirited and daring charm with her bright energy. Lee Hak Joo’s smooth and natural delivery, paired with Jeon Hye Bin’s steady, charismatic gaze, added depth to their characters and showcased the palpable chemistry within the cast.

The production team shared, “From the very first reading, all four actors immersed themselves fully in their roles, bringing to life these lawyers with such distinct personalities. Please look forward to ‘Beyond the Bar,’ which will deliver laughter, relatable moments, and at times, deeply moving moments.”
“Beyond the Bar” will premiere on August 2 at 10:40 p.m. KST.
