Disney+ has officially unveiled the first group photo for the much-anticipated live-action adaptation of the global webtoon phenomenon, The Remarried Empress, set to premiere exclusively on the platform in 2026.
With over 2.6 billion cumulative views as of late 2024, the original webtoon captivated readers worldwide with its rich blend of court intrigue, forbidden romance, and complex characters. The live-action series promises to faithfully reimagine that magic with a star-studded cast and cinematic visuals.
Shin Min-a takes on the role of Empress Navier, the epitome of dignity and strength. After being cast aside by her emotionally turbulent husband, Emperor Sovieshu (played by Joo Ji-hoon), Navier chooses independence and love by boldly proposing marriage to Prince Heinrey of the Western Kingdom, portrayed by Lee Jong-suk. Lee Se-young rounds out the central quartet as Rashta, a runaway slave whose angelic façade masks ambitious desires.

The supporting cast further elevates expectations: Lee Bong-ryeon appears as Eliza, Navier’s head lady-in-waiting; Chae Dae-hoon plays Heinrey’s loyal secretary McKenna; Park Ho-san takes on the role of Rashta’s manipulative former master Lotteshu; Jung Young-joo is the noblewoman Albani who adopts Rashta; and Nam Yoon-ho plays Sovieshu’s secretary Ramt.
Photos from the script reading session reveal an ensemble deeply engaged with their characters. The striking chemistry among the leads has fans praising the production’s “perfect casting” and visual synergy.

Joo Ji-hoon commented, “I’m thrilled to be part of such a powerful universe. I believe this drama will deliver a fresh rush of dopamine to viewers.” Meanwhile, Lee Jong-suk shared his enthusiasm: “When I heard The Remarried Empress was being adapted, I was incredibly excited. I truly believe something fun and innovative is coming.”

The series is directed by Cho Soo-won, known for I Can Hear Your Voice and Pinocchio, with a screenplay by Yeo Ji-na and Hyun Choong-yeol, the creative minds behind The Uncanny Counter.
With its rich narrative, high-caliber cast, and lush production, The Remarried Empress is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated dramas of 2026.
