The assailant claimed self-defense.
A popular singer was violently attacked in Bangkok by a young man.
The singer in question is Thai pop star Peck Palitchoke (also known as Pek Palitchok).

Peck was attacked on August 3, at around 1:30 am, at a gas station in the Bang Kapo District of Bangkok. The Huamark Police Station responded to the report of the attack swiftly, with officers rushing to the scene.
When the police arrived at the gas station, they found the singer collapsed on the ground. He was bleeding profusely from a deep stab wound on his chin. After administering emergency first aid, he was taken to a nearby hospital for urgent medical treatment.
According to eyewitnesses, Peck was suddenly attacked by a young man, who was apprehended at the scene with the help of bystanders. He was later identified as a 21-year-old named Chutithep. The police confiscated a 20-centimeter knife from him, which they believe was used in the attack.
During his questioning at the police station, Chuthithep claimed that he had stabbed Peck in self-defense. He denied any personal familiarity with the singer and claimed that he had no prior conflicts with him. Chutithep claimed that he was at the gas station to refuel when he heard a commotion behind a truck and tried to intervene, but got punched by Peck in the face. He used the knife to defend himself, causing the injury unintentionally.
So far, officials have reportedly charged the assailant with illegal possession of a deadly weapon in public and assault causing bodily harm. However, if medical reports confirm further severe injuries to Peck, he might face additional charges.
The singer’s management has since released an update on his condition, stating that he underwent surgery to suture the wound. Fortunately, the wound didn’t affect critical nerves, and there was no facial paralysis. Though he is still hospitalized, his condition is stable.
The ’84-liner singer began his entertainment career in 2001 and has released numerous albums since then, ruling the music scene in Thailand. He also held multiple sold-out concerts across the country, earning himself a massive fanbase.
