“He seriously looks like a different person…”
Idol-turned-actor Rowoon’s recent appearance has sparked widespread shock after the star’s “weight gain” left some netizens concerned for his health.

The discussion exploded on Korean community site Instiz, where a post titled “Rowoon, are you sick…?” quickly reached tens of thousands of views. In the post, a netizen shared photos from Rowoon’s appearance at the Calvin Klein flagship store in Harajuku, Japan on August 29, adding, “Apparently this was yesterday, but he looks swollen like he’s sick.”

Since Rowoon left SF9 in 2023 to focus on his acting career, the star has built a reputation for his handsome looks as well as his drama roles. The photos in question showed a dramatically different side of Rowoon compared to his usual lean appearance, prompting a flood of reactions from netizens.

However, while many expressed genuine shock at his transformation, others were quick to defend his weight gain, especially given recent news of his military enlistment.

- “If you didn’t say it was Rowoon, I wouldn’t have known it was him.”
- “He himself said it’s just weight gain.”
- “Huh, he seriously looks like a different person, like ‘who are you?’ level. Did I forget his old face?”
- “Wow… he always gave off the naturally skinny guy vibe, so this is surprising.”
- “If I got caught on camera like that, I’d look like a total pig.”
- “He just gained weight, that’s all… Eat lots before the army ㅠㅠ”
- “Ah, so he’s enlisting soon. Of course he might let go of the intense self-management. Enjoy good food before you go~”
- “He’s probably eating freely since it’s before enlistment. When else can he eat as much as he wants, if not now?”
FNC Entertainment announced this week that Rowoon, who recently turned 29 years old, will be enlisting as an active-duty soldier next month. The news came after his initial July enlistment date was postponed due to health concerns during his physical examination.

Rowoon’s major change in appearance comes just days after international netizens were taken aback by his tough guy transformation for the upcoming Disney+ drama series, The Murky Stream, set to premiere on September 26 as his final project before enlistment.
