Lee Mi Sook, Park Hae Joon, Yoo Jae Myung, And Oh Jung Se Hold The Keys To Korea’s Political Future In “Tempest”

Disney+’s upcoming drama “Tempest” has unveiled new character stills of its star-studded supporting cast!

“Tempest” follows Moon Ju (Jun Ji Hyun), a renowned UN ambassador who sets out to uncover the truth behind an assassination attempt on a presidential candidate, and San Ho (Kang Dong Won), a special agent of unknown nationality who must protect her, as they confront a massive truth that threatens the Korean Peninsula.

Lee Mi Sook plays Im Ok Seon, chairwoman of Ahseom Shipping, the largest integrated shipping and logistics company in Korea, and a powerful figure who wields influence over the nation’s political and business circles. Having spent years meticulously preparing her son to become president, she changes course when faced with an unexpected obstacle and is now determined to make Moon Ju president instead, stopping at nothing to achieve her goal.

Lee Mi Sook shared, “Ok Seon’s thoughts, ambitions, and desires are vast. To convey them in a condensed way, I worked on everything from her appearance to my usual approach to delivering lines.”

Park Hae Joon takes on the role of Jang Jun Ik, a presidential candidate for the New Republican Party who dreams of peace and unity. Known for his warm, approachable nature, he embraces the elderly, sings while meeting the eyes of children, and earns broad support across generations. In the stills, Jun Ik greets citizens with a bright smile and a firm handshake, exuding calm charisma and trustworthiness.

Yoo Jae Myung plays Yoo Woon Hak, the head of the National Intelligence Service, who remains ever-vigilant against the threat of war on the Korean Peninsula and devotes himself entirely to international affairs and national security. In the still, Woon Hak is deep in thought with an armed agent standing behind him. Possessing the frightening power to turn patriots into spies if it serves the nation’s interests, Woon Hak gradually reveals his ambitions, heightening the drama’s tension.

Finally, Oh Jung Se transforms into prosecutor Jang Jun Sang. Recognized for his exceptional skills—having even won Prosecutor of the Year—Jun Sang harbors deep-seated jealousy and resentment toward his older brother Jun Ik, who has always been a step ahead since childhood.

Oh Jung Se explained, “Jun Sang’s jealousy and inferiority sometimes come out as anger, other times as sorrow. I focused less on making the character appear sharp and more on how he could blend harmoniously into the story.”

“Tempest” will premiere with three episodes on September 10, followed by two new episodes weekly starting September 17, for a total of nine episodes.
