The cast of tvN’s “Law and The City” has opened up about their genuine chemistry, building anticipation ahead of its premiere!
“Law and The City” follows five associate attorneys—Ahn Ju Hyeong (Lee Jong Suk), Kang Hui Ji (Mun Ka Young), Cho Chang Won (Kang You Seok), Bae Mun Jeong (Ryu Hye Young), and Ha Sang Gi (Im Seong Jae)—as they navigate the challenges and triumphs of their daily lives. These salaried lawyers, employed by law firms, commute each day to the bustling legal district of Seocho.
Lee Jong Suk reflected on the experience, saying, “‘Law and The City’ was a project that taught me the value of working together.” He added, “What I considered one of the drama’s biggest strengths was its cast. We often shared thoughts on characters, emotions, and scenes, asking questions and learning from one another on set.”
Mun Ka Young also shared her appreciation, stating, “Even during breaks, we constantly rehearsed scenes and worked on the rhythm of our lines. Eventually, we became so in tune with one another that we didn’t need words to communicate.” She added warmly, “Just as Hui Ji finds reliable friends in Seocho, I too gained endearing unnies and oppas through ‘Law and The City,’ which made me feel both happy and at ease.”
Kang Yoo Seok recalled the early days of filming, saying, “At first, things were a bit awkward, but once we got comfortable, we started ad-libbing a lot and sharing thoughts about the script while having breaks together. We talked not just about the drama but also about acting and our personal lives, sharing concerns and getting lots of advice from more experienced co-stars. It was impossible not to have good chemistry.”
Ryu Hye Young echoed the sentiment, noting, “Because we were all on the same wavelength, we were able to capture our genuine relationships and chemistry in the scenes where all five of us are together.” She continued, “While working on ‘Law and The City,’ we were always discussing the script, both on set and off, trying to create the best scenes possible.”
Lastly, Im Seong Jae gave insight into the unique atmosphere of the set, remarking, “Normally, during waiting time, actors stay in their own spaces to prepare for their scenes. But with ‘Law and The City,’ even when it wasn’t our turn, we would all gather to discuss scenes together—something I’d never experienced before.”
“Law and The City” will premiere on July 5 at 9:20 p.m. KST.
