Lee Dong Wook’s struggles continue in JTBC’s “The Nice Guy”!
“The Nice Guy” is a noir drama that follows Park Seok Chul (Lee Dong Wook), the eldest grandson of a gangster family with an unexpectedly pure heart, and his first love Kang Mi Young (Lee Sung Kyung), a woman who dreams of becoming a singer.
Spoilers
In the previous episode, the heartbreaking past between Seok Chul and Mi Young came to light, along with the origins of the long-standing feud between Kang Tae Hoon (Park Hoon) and Kim Chang Soo (Lee Moon Shik).
Newly released stills reveal the stark contrasts in Seok Chul’s daily life. Whether he’s trying to protect his family or break free from the criminal organization he was born into, nothing comes easily for him.
One set of photos captures a tense confrontation between Myeongsan Industries and Samjun Construction. Though Seok Chul remains with Myeongsan, he’s visibly troubled watching his comrades cross a line they can’t return from. The animosity between Kang Tae Hoon and Kim Chang Soo—sparked when Tae Hoon left Myeongsan—adds to the tension. Tae Hoon’s cold stare at Chang Soo suggests their bitter history is far from over.
Meanwhile, Seok Chul is also doing his best to protect his family. His eldest sister Park Seok Kyung (Oh Na Ra), who has fled from a gambling ring, is now hiding out at the home of their younger sister Park Seok Hee (Ryu Hye Young). To help Seok Kyung reunite with her son, the siblings team up for a heartfelt mission. Stills of Seok Kyung anxiously waiting for her son Hyeong Geun (Choi Ejun)—and finally reuniting with him—add an emotional warmth to the narrative.
The production team commented, “Park Seok Chul faces a moral dilemma after receiving an order to eliminate Kang Tae Hoon. As the fierce battle between Myeongsan and Samjun escalates, Seok Chul will once again be pulled into a dangerous whirlwind. Viewers can also look forward to the touching and unpredictable dynamics of the ‘Seok Chul family’ as Seok Chul and Seok Hee team up to help their troublemaking older sister.”
Episodes 5 and 6 of “The Nice Guy” will air back-to-back on August 1 at 8:50 p.m. KST.
