MBC’s upcoming drama “Mary Kills People” has unveiled a tense first look at Lee Bo Young and Lee Min Ki’s emotional encounter.
“Mary Kills People” follows the story of Woo So Jung (Lee Bo Young), an ER doctor who illegally assists terminally ill patients with euthanasia, and a detective who tracks her down. Lee Min Ki plays Jo Hyun Woo, a terminal cancer patient with no remaining treatment options.
In the newly released stills, Woo So Jung and Jo Hyun Woo face each other in a fateful encounter. Jo Hyun Woo sits on a hospital bed with an IV needle in his arm and visible wounds on his face, looking up at Woo So Jung with calm, almost serene eyes despite his condition. Meanwhile, Woo So Jung gazes back at him with eyes full of shock and turbulent emotion. The contrasting emotions between the doctor who helps patients end their lives and the patient who has chosen assisted death leave viewers eager to learn what has brought them to this moment.
Lee Bo Young shared her joy at working with Lee Min Ki for the first time, saying, “Our acting chemistry was really great.” She added, “I was amazed that he never brought his script to the set because he memorized everything so perfectly.”
Lee Min Ki said, “I felt comfortable working with her,” and expressed his respect, adding, “She’s such a skilled actress, so I worked hard to match her and do my best.”
The production team commented, “This scene between Lee Bo Young and Lee Min Ki is a signal flare for the core message of ‘Mary Kills People.’ They portray the complex emotions surrounding the choice of death with such depth and delicacy, delivering the profound resonance and lingering impact that this drama holds.”
“Mary Kills People” is set to premiere on August 1 at 10 p.m. KST.
