Many think the real issue is boundaries.
LE SSERAFIM‘s Chaewon is known for being a beautiful, talented idol who has often attracted attention for her visuals.

However, a woman’s confession on TikTok recently sparked a debate involving the idol.
In a now-viral video, a TikTok creator said that her previous boyfriend was “obsessed” with Chaewon, which showed her that she had jealousy issues. She then revealed that she would get “nauseous and sick” anytime she saw her, leading to her blocking Chaewon, LE SSERAFIM, and other K-Pop groups on social media.

She admitted that it was not their fault, but rather an issue she had.
Many of the comments actually agreed with her, saying that it was odd that her boyfriend had an “obsession” with another woman and shared similar feelings. Other comments however, specifically pointed claimed that interest in Chaewon specifically could be considered a “red flag.”
Several in the comments pushed back against the ideas of it being a specific idol causing an issue, but rather the boyfriend’s behavior. Many reasoned that jealousy over him paying more attention to another woman, or consuming content without actually listening to music was the real problem.
Others also supported this, saying that men being fans of a K-Pop idol in the usual way should be fine and it would be a double standard to think otherwise.
While jealousy over a partner’s feelings for another person is understandable, connecting being a fan of a specific idol to bad behavior is generalization at best.
