Disney+’s upcoming drama “Tempest” has unveiled new character stills of Kim Hae Sook as the President of South Korea!
“Tempest” follows Moon Ju (Jun Ji Hyun), a renowned UN ambassador who sets out to uncover the truth behind an assassination attempt on a presidential candidate, and San Ho (Kang Dong Won), a special agent of unknown nationality who must protect her, as they confront a massive truth that threatens the Korean Peninsula.
Kim Hae Sook portrays Chae Kyung Shin, the President of South Korea. With her poised charisma and strong drive, Chae Kyung Shin holds firm political convictions and is active across both diplomacy and politics. She once cherished Moon Ju so much that she even considered her for the position of foreign minister. However, as the presidential candidate shooting incident grows into a political and diplomatic crisis, she begins to keep Moon Ju in check.
The newly released stills highlight Kim Hae Sook’s commanding presence, capturing the resolute dignity and authority of a leader in the highest office.
Kim Hae Sook shared, “I wanted to portray a president who is intelligent and charismatic, yet also warm and human.” Writer Jung Seo Kyung also praised her performance, saying, “I didn’t want to depict female leadership as merely gentle—I wanted there to be sharp decisiveness as well, and Kim Hae Sook expressed that perfectly. Every time, it gave me chills.”
“Tempest” will premiere with three episodes on September 10, followed by two new episodes weekly starting September 17, for a total of nine episodes.
