Male Idol Honestly Confesses Life After Coming Out As Gay

He’s gaining confidence.

Recently, Just B’s Bain publicly revealed that he was gay during a concert in L.A. in April. During the show, Bain explained, “I’m f*cking proud to be part of the LGBT community.”

He revealed that it was a moment where he sincerely felt that he was fine just the way he was.

That moment is still vivid. The fans cheered me on, and I felt like I was standing completely as myself for the first time.

— Bain

Bain is the main vocalist of the six-member boy group Just B, which debuted in 2021. Coming out was not originally planned.

The thought crossed his mind while preparing for his solo stage during an overseas tour, and as he received support from fans, he gradually gained courage.

The day before the concert in L.A., he told the members and agency that he wanted to come out, and they all supported his decision.

With this, Bain is the first to come out among K-Pop male idols.

Bain spent a long time hiding this part of himself. He first realized he was gay in middle school, but naturally hid his feelings when he started his trainee life.

I thought, ‘It’s fine as long as I just don’t show it?’. But when I think about it now, it’s sad.

— Bain

During his trainee days, he believed that as long as he hid his sexual identity, it wouldn’t be a problem. Even after his debut, he became used to staying silent when he couldn’t talk about his identity.

However, two years after his debut, the emotions he had been suppressing came rushing back.

At one point, everything hit me, and I felt I was lying to everyone. I am a person who is living a lie.

— Bain

He finally revealed his identity to his family, members, and agency and gradually found a place where he could be himself.

After coming out, he faced negative reactions. Although he had expected these to some extent, he also felt that some fans would turn their backs and that the whole team would have to bear the weight together.

In regards to life after coming out, he chose himself as the most significant change.

It still doesn’t feel real that I’ve come out. I’ve been pretending to be straight for so long that I don’t think I’m showing my true self fully. But I’ve gained much confidence and try not to hide it when I meet new people. In that way, I think I’ve changed a lot.

— Bain

He also revealed that he had become a “safe zone” for others, sharing that many fans have confessed their true identity after his coming out moment.

In terms of whether he will remain as “just a K-Pop male idol who came out,” he stated that it is up to him to show what kind of image he will have.

I will have to show how well I am living and working hard.
