Upcoming superhero drama “Twelve” has released new posters and stills featuring Go Kyu Pil and Regina Lei!
Inspired by the 12 zodiac animals of the East, “Twelve” tells the story of 12 angels living in the human world in human form to protect the Korean Peninsula from evil spirits. Long ago, the angels barely managed to seal the forces of evil in the gates of hell through their sacrifice, bringing peace. However, with the evil spirits awakening, chaos returns.
Go Kyu Pil stars as angel Do Ni. In the human world, Do Ni works as a nurse at Taesan Oriental Medicine Clinic, which is run by his fellow angel Bang Wool (Regina Lei). Symbolizing a pig, Do Ni is known for his unexpected nimble movements, impressive strength, and unique ability to communicate with animals.
Go Kyu Pil expressed his affection for the role, saying, “From the planning stage, I asked them to consider me if they ever needed a pig character.”
He also shared his efforts to develop Do Ni’s signature action style: “Because action is crucial to the genre, I spent a lot of time thinking about what type of moves would suit Do Ni rather than relying on simple motions. I created a unique attack style that uses the abdomen, believing it could highlight the character’s charm. I hope it becomes a fresh approach.”
Roockie actress Regina Lei plays Bang Wool, an angel symbolizing a snake who runs an oriental medicine clinic using ancient medical knowledge and healing abilities passed down through generations. She treats fellow angels when they are attacked by evil forces and even creates her own medicine to help them increase their strength. Bang Wool is also expected to show unique chemistry with Do Ni, who has the rare ability to read her unspoken thoughts.
Regina Lei explained her reason for joining the project, saying, “Zodiac sign is a familiar theme in Asian cultures, which made it even more interesting. I was impressed by the blend of character’s transformation, heroic story, and dynamic action scenes.”
She added, “I studied the characteristics of snakes as much as possible through various media. For the costume, I tried to emphasize snakeskin texture by showcasing subtle but visible scales, and to highlight the character’s traits, I worked on movements that resemble a snake coiling while hunting.”
The accompanying character posters vividly capture each character’s unique personality and charm. For Do Ni, the Chinese character representing the pig is overlaid with a pink, fur texture, highlighting the character’s warm, yet dependable identity.
For Bang Wool, the Chinese character representing the snake features a finely detailed scale pattern. The design that visually embodies each character’s symbolism further highlights the unique world and character appeal of “Twelve.”
“Twelve” will premiere on August 23.
