The upcoming film “My Daughter is a Zombie” has released new stills of Choi Yu Ri in her zombie role!
Based on the webtoon of the same name, “My Daughter Is a Zombie” is a heartfelt comedy about a devoted father who goes to extreme lengths to protect his daughter, who is the last surviving zombie on Earth. Jo Jung Suk stars as Jung Hwan, a loving father who secretly attempts to train his zombie daughter.
Choi Yu Ri plays Soo Ah, Jung Hwan’s daughter. Though she acts cold towards her father on the outside, deep down, she loves him more than anyone else in the world. After becoming a zombie due to a virus infection, Soo Ah is now fiercer than any wild animal and even more sensitive than the average teenager, constantly trying to bite people. Despite her zombie instincts, she still loves churros and shows off the dance skills she inherited from her father.
The film will depict Soo Ah caught between her lingering human emotions and overpowering zombie instincts, alongside her father Jung Hwan, who embarks on a secret training mission to keep her safe.
To prepare for the role, Choi Yu Ri underwent zombie training for 10 months, from pre-production through filming, and spent two hours in special effects makeup for each shoot to fully transform into her character.
Director Pil Gam Sung praised her, saying, “She has a face that combines disarming cuteness with a subtle sadness.”
“My Daughter is a Zombie” will hit theaters across South Korea on July 30.
