YG Entertainment has officially introduced the second member of its highly anticipated new girl group project, “YG NEXT MONSTER” and the spotlight is now on Chanya, a 14-year-old vocalist from Thailand who’s already turning heads with her raw talent.
On June 16, YG dropped the video “YG NEXT MONSTER | CHANYA – ‘the grudge’” via its official blog. Like the debut performance of the first revealed member, Evelli, Chanya’s video was filmed during the company’s monthly evaluations, focusing purely on live vocals without flashy stage effects.
Despite her young age, Chanya’s vocal control and emotional delivery are garnering rave reviews. Her soulful tone gently layered over a calm melody delivered a striking performance, and her expressive eyes and subtle facial acting left a strong impression. When she soared through the high notes in the climax, her reserved energy exploded, delivering chills to those watching.
Even YG founder and executive producer Yang Hyun-suk was moved, commenting “I almost cried,” a rare moment of vulnerability that highlights the depth of her impact.

Chanya, born on November 25, 2010, is multilingual, speaking Thai, English, and Korean, and stands at 168 cm tall. She’s introduced as a vocalist, making her the perfect complement to Yelly’s rap skills.
The unveiling of the second member, Chanya, quickly caught the attention of Korean netizens, especially on the online forum Pann. Here are top comments on Pann:

- Honestly, it’s better than asking about China.
- Looking at other groups too, Thai members tend to be really talented… LOL
- It’s definitely better than not being able to let go of the Chinese market.
- YG’s style of promoting groups is all about YouTube subscribers and views, pushing the “huge overseas popularity” narrative. That’s why they can’t give up on Southeast Asia.
- But honestly, aren’t all of YG’s Thai members well-balanced? Lisa, Chiquita, Pharita.
The buzz around YG’s new group is already intense. Evelli’s initial rap performance has surpassed 19 million views on YouTube, while her follow-up dance video has crossed 7 million, putting the pre-debut group’s total at over 26 million views.

With two powerhouse trainees already revealed, excitement continues to grow for this 4-member girl group set to debut under YG. According to the teaser at the end of Chanya’s video, the remaining two members will be introduced toward the end of the year, allowing YG to focus on BLACKPINK’s comeback and BABYMONSTER’s promotions, which begin with the single “HOT SAUCE” on July 1.
