One incident was caught on camera.
A seemingly sweet relationship between a fan and a singer turned sour, resulting in prison time for a woman in her 30s.
The Singaporean woman, Cassandra Low, is reportedly a longtime fan of 38-year-old Olivia Tsao, an award-winning Taiwanese singer. Low and Tsao began exchanging messages on Facebook and Instagram as well as emails in November 2023. After Tsao blocked Low on social media, Low began to threaten Tsao, her agent, and her family. Because of these threats, Tsao and her agent both left their homes.
In court it was revealed that Low wrote on Facebook, “I can be very aggressive. The more stubborn she is… don’t blame me for whatever I do to her parents.” She also wrote, “Blocking me, see how I slowly let her agent die.”
In February, Low’s behavior escalated from verbal threats and stalking Tsao online to following Tsao to a train station. There, Low snatched away Tsao’s phone, took hold of Tsao’s luggage, and blocked her path to try to force Tsao to unblock her online as Tsao shouted for help. The incident was caught on camera.

On June 5, the New Taipei District Court found Low guilty of stalking, harassing, endangering Tsao’s safety, and insulting her. She has been sentenced to six months in prison or a commuted fine: NT$1,000 (approximately $40 USD) for each day of her prison sentence. She will also be deported from Taiwan.
“This is the most comforting piece of news I have received recently,” Tsao wrote on Instagram and Facebook, following the verdict.
