Not for the reason one might assume, either.
Boys II Planet, the long-awaited sequel to Boys Planet, has finally begun and has already made some contestants go viral.
The show features 154 contestants competing to join the winning group, including several already-debuted and familiar faces. According to the program, the group will include 14 members: seven from the Chinese trainees and seven from the Korean trainees.
While complaints are common with survival shows, this one has already received one that may raise eyebrows.
As part of some pre-show introductory videos to allow audiences to glimpse the trainees’ personalities, two contestants were paired to guess an object while blindfolded. The trainees were to use their faces to get a feel for the object.
As one would imagine, this created some close contact between trainees as they accidentally brushed against each other.
Some netizens have expressed discomfort with this, not because of the closeness between the two men, but because it is being “forced.” In idol fandom, there is a concept called “business gay relationship,” aka fanservice between members of the same sex.
Many have commented that they prefer more “organic” interactions rather than it being forced in this way.
- Even during Produce X, everyone felt uncomfortable about that, and they’re doing it again.
- It’s too obvious, I don’t like it.
- This isn’t something you eat because it’s spoon-fed to you — it’s something you eat because you actually want it…
- Back during Produce 101, people were divided over whether it was calculated or not, but this time it’s just way too obvious lol.
