JTBC’s drama “Beyond the Bar” stars Lee Jin Uk and Jung Chaeyeon have talked about their perfect teamwork!
“Beyond the Bar” follows the story of Kang Hyo Min (Jung Chaeyeon), an upstanding and confident yet inexperienced rookie attorney at the law firm Yullim. Under the mentorship of Yoon Seok Hoon (Lee Jin Uk), a cold but exceptionally skilled partner attorney, Hyo Min gradually grows into a true lawyer as she navigates the challenges of the legal world.
As this marks their first project together, both actors expressed high praise and affection for each other. Lee Jin Uk didn’t hesitate to give their acting chemistry 100 points, sharing, “Jung Chaeyeon was so good that I felt no discomfort at all, and our teamwork was excellent.” He added, “We’re in the same agency, and a few years ago at a company workshop, she was my ‘manitto’ (secret Santa), so I already felt a sense of closeness to her. Through this project, we’ve grown even closer.”
He went on to compliment her preparation, saying, “From the very first script reading, she came so well-prepared for her character that the director and all the actors praised her. On set, she fit the role of Kang Hyo Min perfectly—it was like she was wearing clothes tailored just for her. She fully embodied the role of a capable and intelligent rookie lawyer, and our acting synergy naturally matched very well.”
Jung Chaeyeon echoed his sentiments, saying, “If I had to give it a score, it’d be 100 points!” She continued, “Honestly, I was really nervous about filming with senior actors for the first time, but Lee Jin Uk was so relaxed and delightful that he became a huge source of strength for me.”
She added that his presence on set felt incredibly reassuring. “He supported everyone so well that no matter what I threw at him in the scene, he received it all. He also created such a comfortable atmosphere on set that I could act without worries. I’m truly grateful for that.”
Reflecting further, she said, “While filming, I kept thinking, ‘Ah, this is why everyone likes Lee Jin Uk so much,’ and ‘I need to learn this and this from him,’ and ‘Will I be like that when I reach his level of experience?’ He always approached me first and was so easy to talk to. I sincerely thank him. Lee Jin Uk is the best!”
“Beyond the Bar” will premiere on August 2 at 10:40 p.m. KST.
