Her ex-husband hid his real identity.
A popular female artist recently revealed her ordeal of falling victim to a fraudulent marriage.
Nancy Lang, a beloved Korean pop artist and entrepreneur based in New York, talked about the trauma of being tied up in such a marriage during her recent YouTube appearance.

In the video, Lang appeared alongside Seo Yuri, a Korean actress who is also a divorcee. The two started talking about dating after divorce when Lang admitted that she was left too traumatized to trust people again until very recently.
I couldn’t date properly for a while, but last September, I finally got over my trauma and started asking everyone to set me up on blind dates. I was fine with divorcees, even preferred singles. I thought maybe I could feel more comfortable with someone who’s divorced.

Seo Yuri eventually mentioned that she had paid off more than half of the debt she had inherited from her former husband. Lang sympathized with her, revealing that her ex-husband had also left her drowning in debt.
In my case, too, he made me sign papers, and what started as ₩800 million KRW (about $590,000 USD) ballooned over seven years to ₩1.40 billion KRW (about $1.03 million USD) to ₩1.50 billion KRW (about $1.11 million USD).

Lang added that the monthly interest of the debt had reached ₩13.0 million KRW (about $9,580 USD), “starting from seven years ago, from a mix of first, second, and third-tier lenders.” Despite her ex-husband promising to fix the papers, he never did, leaving her entangled in a huge amount of debt.
Lang admitted that she hadn’t “even touched the principal,” and expressed her admiration for Seo Yuri’s perseverance.
When asked if they had any advice for younger people about marriage, Nancy Lang gave a very detailed outline of what people should look into before tying the knot. She advised that couples should get their health checkups before marriage and look into how much debt their partner has. She also mentioned a surprising third advice— “Check whether their family is real, if the older or younger sibling, mother, and father a real.”
The show’s host quipped that it never hurts to be cautious. The singer agreed, stating that she also never thought she would fall victim to such a situation.
Nancy Lang got married to Wang Jinjin in 2017, but it was later revealed that Wang’s actual name was Jun Junjoo. Jun had been convicted of forging a letter by the late actress Jang Ja Yeon, who committed suicide due to sexual abuse by several powerful men. He faced allegations of faking his birthplace, profession, and hiding prior convictions of rape and robbery, fraud, and embezzlement. Amid this controversy, Lang announced her divorce in October 2018, and the couple separated after a three-year-long battle. However, Lang was left with around in debt, including liabilities incurred by her ex-husband, after the fraud of her marriage was exposed.
