The first of TXT’s solo music videos for “The Star Chapter: TOGETHER” is out! On July 30 at midnight KST, TXT released the music video for Yeonjun’s solo track “Ghost Girl,” one of the B-sides from their new full-length album “The Star Chapter: TOGETHER.” Yeonjun filmed the music video for “Ghost Girl,” which was co-produced by British singer-songwriter YUNGBLUD, in London, and he also personally contributed lyrics for the emotional reggae-rock song. Check out Yeonjun’s new music video for “Ghost Girl” below!
Less than a month since the release of their new Korean album, Twice have already returned with the lead track of their upcoming Japanese album. They’re certainly busy, and Enemy represents a new sonic challenge for them. The group has long been known for their glossy pop sound but this track injects a grittier rock texture. Even though this is very much in keeping with current trends, it’s still surprising to hear Twice’s vocals backed by a heavy band sound. They pull it off well, but I would have liked to hear stronger material for their first big venture into…
TXT’s new (full) album weighs in at eight tracks and a paltry twenty-one minutes. This brevity isn’t unique to TXT and I don’t mean to call them out specifically, but it’s representative of choices the K-pop industry is currently making. So much effort seems to go into everything surrounding the music, even as the actual songs grow shorter and less developed. In this case, that effort includes music videos for each of the members’ solo tracks. In keeping with the truncated nature of the album, I’ll be writing mini reviews for each song as the videos are released. We’re bursting…
TXT has released a video of Yeonjun’s choreography draft for “Beautiful Strangers”! The group previously revealed that Yeonjun had choreographed the majority of TXT’s dance for “Beautiful Strangers,” the title track of their new full-length album “The Star Chapter: TOGETHER.” During their live broadcast for the comeback, Huening Kai estimated that Yeonjun had choreographed about 80 percent of the song. On July 29, BIGHIT MUSIC officially released Yeonjun’s draft of the choreography for “Beautiful Strangers,” giving fans a chance to get a better idea of which parts of the final piece were personally choreographed by Yeonjun. You can compare Yeonjun’s…
I’ve had my eyes on Dragon Pony since their stellar debut last year. Follow-up Not Out took their music in an angstier direction, but maintained their knack for a strong chorus. New single Radio Silence (지구소년) finds a middle ground that infuses an energetic sound with plenty of emotion. An Tae Gyu’s vocals remain the band’s biggest and best calling card. You know you’re in safe hands with a vocalist like this. He’s got such a powerful way of performing that also manages to capture sentiment so well. I don’t think Radio Silence is as successful as either of their…
With last year’s NEMONEMO, Choi Yena took on the mantle of quirky K-pop performer formerly held by groups like Orange Caramel and Crayon Pop. With so many acts proclaiming their badassery in the most serious way possible, a little irreverence is more important than ever. She’s also got a rocker-girl aesthetic, and new single Being A Good Girl Hurts (착하다는 말이 제일 싫어) melds both of these approaches together. Fans of popular rock group QWER should have this song next on their playlist, as the songwriting style feels quite similar. However, the production has a poppier sheen, borrowing from bright…
