Sohee | SM Entertainment Former RIIZE member Seunghan is officially stepping into his next chapter as XngHan, the face of a new artist brand titled XngHan & Xoul. With his debut project set to launch at the end of July 2025, anticipation is building not only for the music, but also for the lineup of creatives joining him on stage. His first project is performance-focused and features two professional dancers,…
Fans are horrified at the footage. Scary airport mobs are, unfortunately, nothing new to K-pop. But it is rare to hear and see them happening to trainees that haven’t even announced their debut yet! The uncomfortable situation happened to young SM Entertainment trainees — known as SMTR25, a term coined by the company — today as they landed after having performed during SMTOWN’s sold-out show in London. | SM Entertainment The trainees impressed the crowd with performances of SM boy group’s biggest hit like SHINee’s “Lucifer,” EXO’s “Growl” and many more. 왜+ The Way U Are+ 미인아#SMTR25 #SONGHA #송하…
This is a strange era for K-pop… at least when it comes to my own experience. On one hand, there are a handful of acts I feel more invested in than ever, which is the feeling everyone wants as a fan. In some ways, I’m more interested in K-pop than I have been in awhile, but this interest is pretty funneled into the acts I follow. If I zoom out to the industry on a larger scale, the overall song quality is definitely lacking this year and even the standouts don’t necessarily feel like future classics. For this mid-year countdown,…

2025 has seen a number of boy group debuts spawned from survival series, and so far they’ve been killing it. NouerA and Close Your Eyes led charge and now it’s AHOF’s turn. This global group was formed on SBS series Universe League and their awkward acronym stands for “All-Time Hall Of Famer.” Time will tell if that moniker goes on to be self-fulfilling, but debut track Rendezvous (그곳에서 다시 만나기로 해) gets them off to a strong start. This one’s for the old-school 2nd/3rd generation K-pop fans who miss 3+ minute, melodically-driven songs with a heavy dose of idol angst.…
As 2025 kicked off, BABYMONSTER were still promoting their first album with a series of follow-up tracks. A second album has been promised for this fall (though take that with a grain of salt given YG Entertainment’s track record) and the summer-themed Hot Sauce acts as its opening salvo, released digitally to kick off the month of July. The song takes its cues from 80’s hip-hop and the visual presentation of Seo Taiji & Boys’ early-90’s debut era. These are two touchstones I absolutely love, so Hot Sauce should work better for me than it does. Its bouncy, minimalist beat…
