Unsurprisingly, the clip of her comments instantly went viral and sparked heated debate online. Among the thousands of comments there were netizens who accepted Karina’s explanation and apology and moved on from the controversy.
However, there were many of those who seemingly remain disappointed. Some comments blame her initial behavior after the photo went viral, others wonder why the aespa star only explained the reasoning behind it now.

- “They say the post got over a thousand comments from hate, but over half of it is fans defending her or just saying they’re disappointed and can’t trust her anymore. How is that hate?”
- “Don’t treat her like she’s stupid.”
- “Compared to other idols who get heat even for holding up one V-finger and explain themselves with full energy, she really handled it way differently lol.”
- “Back then she didn’t even explain properly and showed up at the award show laughing and acting playful. Now she says all this?…”
- “You’re saying it was because you were ignorant? lol”
- “Why bring this up again now…?”
- “Only now? If it really wasn’t what people thought, you should’ve clarified that then. But you clearly showed your political stance, so what does it matter now?”
