She claims to be innocent.
Actress Song Ha Yoon has released an official statement regarding the bullying allegations made against her.
On July 2, 2025, her legal representative from Law Firm Jieum stated that although the controversy was false, it had been difficult to prove her innocence, hence they had remained silent until now.
“In response to the school bullying controversy raised against Song Ha Yoon last year regarding incidents said to have occurred over 20 years ago, she has consistently maintained that these claims are false. However, proving that something did not happen has been extremely difficult, which delayed her ability to respond more actively. Song Ha Yoon has since been working to collect evidence to prove that the claims made by the initial spreader of the rumors, a person referred to as ‘Ms. Oh’, are false. As a result, she has independently gathered significant evidence and has filed a criminal complaint against Ms. Oh.”
The law firm explained that Song Ha Yoon recently took legal action and wanted to update the public on the investigation status, while also addressing changes in her personal situation and upcoming plans. According to the statement, Song Ha Yoon filed a criminal complaint against Ms. Oh for violating the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection (defamation) and for obstruction of business by fraud. Although police deemed Ms. Oh’s actions worthy of investigation, she is currently residing in the United States and claims to be a U.S. citizen. She has continually refused to cooperate with the investigation. Authorities, however, confirmed through official channels that Ms. Oh still retains South Korean citizenship, allowing the case to proceed.
Due to her continued refusal to comply with investigation requests, the police issued a “designated notification order” for Ms. Oh in May and registered her in the national wanted database. If she enters South Korea, law enforcement will be immediately notified and the investigation will resume. In the meantime, Song Ha Yoon is exploring legal action within the U.S., and her legal team is also preparing to pursue civil and criminal liability against any third parties involved in spreading the false information.
The firm emphasized that Song Ha Yoon did not commit any acts of school violence against Ms. Oh and was never forced to transfer schools because of such incidents. Supporting documents from public institutions, notarized statements, and additional evidence have been submitted to authorities to prove the allegations are false. Crucially, the classmate Ms. Oh had claimed as a witness to an alleged assault has confirmed that they never witnessed any such incident, and they had clearly told Ms. Oh this. Despite this, Ms. Oh reportedly still used the classmate’s name as a supposed eyewitness for media submissions.
Song Ha Yoon also reconnected with her high school homeroom teacher, who confirmed they had never heard of her being transferred due to bullying.
