Her marriage has been unhealthy since the beginning.
A veteran Korean actress recently shared some concerning stories of her marriage.
On June 26, 81-year-old actress Sunwoo Yong Yeo appeared as a guest on KBS2’s Problem Child In House, where she shared several stories regarding her personal life.

The actress, who celebrates 50 years in the industry this year, recalled that she had to work constantly during her marriage because her husband was in massive debt. Despite the hardships, she held no resentment for him and even considered herself lucky because her husband’s debt gave her the chance to work. “I gave him my entire bank account,” she revealed.
However, one incident made her lash out at her husband, who slapped her for attending a risequé performance. Sunwoo Yong Yeo recalled that back in the 1970s, she went to a cabaret with fellow actress Jeon Won Joo, which was a secret trend among housewives at that time.
The actress shared that she followed Jeon into a basement, unaware of what kind of place it would be. “It was a cabaret. There were actual shopping baskets there, and I heard women would wait for men to come and grab them,” she recalled. She eventually drove away from the venue on her own, feeling embarrassed.
Sunwoo had kept this visit a secret from her husband, but he eventually found out and slapped her for it.
One day, my husband asked me where I’d gone, and I told him everything except the cabaret part. About 20 days later, he woke me up by slapping me.

She continued, revealing that she grabbed him by the collar out of frustration and yelled, “I didn’t say anything because I was too embarrassed!”
Sunwoo Yong Yeo got married to her husband when she was 23, and had to work down to her bones to pay back his debt of ₩20.0 billion KRW (about $14.8 million USD). Despite her husband’s questionable behavior, the actress still maintains her amicable feelings toward him. Her husband passed away 11 years ago, in 2014.
