“It’s the first time I’m mentioning it publicly…”
A recently married actress has kept her marriage so secret that not even her own relatives knew about it.
Mikie Hara is a Japanese actress and gravure idol, who made her acting debut role in the 2007 J-Drama Cutie Honey: The Live. Between 2007 and 2018, she appeared in dozens of J-Dramas and Japanese films, including Rental Lover and Gen Nama Bengoshi.
On July 15, Hara announced her marriage while live on air, during filming for the talk show Odoru! Sanma Goten!!. During the episode, which was about newlywed celebrities, Hara said, “I’m married. This is the first time I’m saying it because it really just happened.”
Hara revealed that she had managed to keep her nuptials a secret from relatives, close friends, and the media. “There are still family members who don’t know. It happened very recently, so I haven’t told everyone yet,” she explained.
“I’m kind of on edge right now. It’s the first time I’m mentioning it publicly… I wasn’t even sure I could trust my own relatives!” she said. During her reveal, Hara didn’t disclose her husband’s identity, but its believed that the two got together sometime after she left the entertainment industry in 2018 to continue her education overseas.
Hara later released a statement about her marriage on Instagram:
To all my supporters and everyone I’ve worked with, I hope you’ll forgive me for the personal nature of this announcement, but I would like to share that I have recently gotten married. I’m truly grateful to be able to share this important milestone with all of you directly. Thanks to the constant support from so many people, I’ve been able to keep facing my work with dedication each day. I’m once again filled with appreciation for all the encouragement I’ve received. Moving forward, I hope to continue doing my best in my own way, without change. Thank you, as always, for your continued support.
