Shocking legal advice turned him off to the idea of it all.
After hearing a string of legal advice on how to (or how not to) split assets between couples, Super Junior‘s Heechul decided perhaps the idea of marriage isn’t all too intriguing to him.

On the June 29, 2025 (KST) episode of SBS‘s My Little Old Boy, Heechul—alongside Lee Sang Min and Lee Dong Gun—sat down with lawyers and went over how property division is handled in a divorce process.
When one of the lawyers mentioned how she is seeing a spike in the cases of YouTuber couples getting divorced and fighting over the channels that bring in a lot of profit, Lee Sang Min asked Heechul if he would ever split his assets with his wife.
Lee Sang Min: What about your assets? You have a lot, don’t you?
Lawer Park Min Chul: What if you get married and your wife wants to split the assets? If she suggests putting her name in the title for your house, would you agree?
To that, Heechul said his stance is firm: What’s his is his, what’s hers is hers.

Heechul: No way.
Park Min Chul: (Sighs) But if you tell her that, you might hurt her feelings.
Heechul: Then I’d tell her that I don’t want her stuff either. She can keep what’s hers, and I will keep what’s mine.
While Lee Sang Min and Lee Dong Gun (both of whom have been married once) teased Heechul’s idea of having a clean cut asset division within a marriage, another lawyer explained that it is possible to not put things under joint ownership—except, if the marriage does last, then the line gets blurry.
Well, what he said isn’t entirely wrong. Just because you’re married doesn’t mean you have to put things under joint ownership.
But if the marriage lasts a long time and they have children, the spouse’s contribution to maintaining that wealth is considered. Even if the house is under Heechul’s name, it doesn’t mean it’s 100% his. If they divorce, the wife can file for division of property.

Heechul couldn’t help but express horror at the idea that his house, “bought with [his] money,” could end up becoming his future wife’s.
But I bought my house with my money… Isn’t it unfair to split it? I saved up from doing My Little Old Boy and Super Junior activities to buy that house.
— Heechul
When all three lawyers confirmed again that his house would still be subject to property division, Heechul threw up his hands and declared, “Well, then, I’m not getting married!”
