Many came to her defense as well.
Recently, Lee Hyori‘s comments about IVF (in vitro fertilization) have brought her some scathing criticism from netizens.

During a past appearance on an MBC Every1 variety show in 2022, Lee Hyori shared her plans of having a child, and the topic of IVF was brought up. The singer stated that she would be grateful to have a child “naturally,” but wouldn’t choose to undergo IVF.
I don’t want to go as far as IVF. I don’t want to rely on medical help that much.
— Lee Hyori
“If a child comes naturally,” the then 43-year-old singer added, “I would be very grateful and raise them. I know someone who had their first child at the age of 58.”
These comments recently resurfaced through a viral online community post, sparking a heated discourse. Many criticized Lee fiercely, arguing that her remark was disheartening toward women who were undergoing the painful procedure of IVF.

- “The power of medicine…She just doesn’t have the desperation, right?? It’s not respectful to those who endure pain and still long for a child…. “
- “Her arrogance knows no bounds.”
- “She acts like she’s thoughtful, but she’s always immature. Does she even know how many people desperately try to have children using every possible medical option? Don’t belittle that. You might say she’s just sharing her opinion, but that’s exactly why people call her an immature celebrity.”
- “She ended up offending everyone going through IVF.”
- “She managed to offend a whole group of older couples doing IVF, lol. Why does she even care whether others have kids or not? She should just use that time to work out instead.”
However, many have defended the K-Pop diva as well, pointing out that she was simply stating her personal preference.

- “Lee Hyori meant that she will live well even without children. Why are you guys acting like this?”
- “She said she wouldn’t do it. What’s the big deal? Why is everyone like this?”
- “It’s her personal business.”
- “Seriously, what a fuss…Ridiculous.”
- “What’s the issue with what she said? It’s not like she criticized or looked down on people doing IVF — she just said she doesn’t want to do it herself. So why are people so offended?”
