On June 20, KST, the group released the first music video teaser of their debut single, “F Girl.” The video showed one of the members walking up to a store clerk and placing a small packet on the counter. As the man gives her a frowned stare, she opens up the packet to reveal a candy and pops it in her mouth.

Viewers were quick to catch that the candy packet was intentionally made to look like a condom packet, which was clearly the driving point of the teaser’s narrative.

Though some appreciated the teaser’s tongue-in-cheek messaging, many were left concerned with the concept, noting that three of the four members in the group were minors. The title of the song, “F Girl,” also struck many as odd, given the incredibly young age of the members.

The criticism was also directed at Soyeon, who reportedly assumed a key role in producing the girl group.

Many fans came to Soyeon’s defence, stating that she was likely just involved with the music and not the creative direction. Regardless, the teaser appears to be increasingly drawing criticism, with people calling out the label and everyone else involved with the production.
