An upcoming K-Drama based on a popular webtoon has invited scathing criticism from netizens for changing up its storyline significantly.
The K-Drama in question is Positively Yours, reportedly set to be led by Oh Yeon Seo and Choi Jin Hyuk.
The drama is an adaptation of a popular web novel by the same name. The original storyline follows the journey of a high school teacher named Jang Hee Won, who unexpectedly becomes pregnant after a one-night stand with a handsome stranger. The stranger, however, turns out to be a school board chairman.

The K-Drama adaptation will reportedly shift the setting from the school to a major corporation. Jang Hee Won will be portrayed as a career woman who has given up on marriage and having children to focus on her work instead. However, she becomes unexpectedly pregnant after a one-night stand with a man she later discovers to be the CEO of an affiliate company.

This change in the setting and the circumstances of the leads, especially the female protagonist, has ticked off many international fans who are familiar with the original webtoon. The production has been getting called out on X for betraying the original essence of the story, and trading it for what many are calling “propaganda” for South Korea’s falling birth rate.
So what’s the point of adapting this webtoon then?
Her being a teacher was central to the story, the pregnancy, the struggles, everything tied into that.
So much happened at the school!
Now they aged them up, changed the plot and personality….#PositivelyYours #아기가생겼어요 https://t.co/Ee8yPeWshf— nedendedi (@dedinededinede) June 17, 2025
This change is genuinely horrifying they’re really pushing a child onto a willfully childfree career oriented woman. in the current political context of sk this is….. concerning. https://t.co/sKEm5FPhW0

Why would they change it like that???? Her being a teacher is part of the webtoon’s charm to begin witht but having a woman as a businesswoman give up her work to have a baby is INSANE, especially to spread that in SK considering how misogynistic it is there.. irresponsible https://t.co/TZmediHBqx

Though at this point, the production is at its very preliminary stages, judging by netizens’ reactions, the K-Drama is already off to a rocky start.
