TV CHOSUN’s new drama “Confidence Queen” has unveiled new stills of Joo Jong Hyuk in character!
A Korean adaptation of the 2018 Japanese comedy drama “The Confidence Man JP,” “Confidence Queen” follows three con artists with extraordinary talents as they pull off elaborate scams targeting villains from all walks of life. Park Min Young stars as Yoon Yi Rang, a con artist with an IQ of 165 and a genius-level intellect in the top 1 percent. With her eccentric thinking and cold charisma, she leads the team in their intricate schemes.
Joo Jong Hyuk plays Myung Gu Ho, the team’s action-oriented youngest member who embodies both justice and charm. His character—affectionately nicknamed the “puppy-like maknae”—is a con artist who has mastered every trick of the trade.
The newly released stills highlight Myung Gu Ho’s many sides: in a sleek suit, his signature bright smile and sparkling eyes set the stage for excitement, while another cut shows him exuding effortless charisma as he lounges in first class with slicked-back hair and sunglasses. In softer moments, his argyle knit sweater emphasizes his gentle side, but he’s also seen making fiery expressions during conversations or sulking adorably—showcasing both his playful innocence and stubborn streak.
Sharing his thoughts on the role, Joo Jong Hyuk shared, “Gu Ho has to take on a wide range of personas, so just being part of a project like this felt like an honor as an actor. It was also exciting to work alongside Park Min Young and Park Hee Soon as one team.”
He continued, “Since I had to portray different disguises each episode, I put a lot of thought into how costumes and makeup could best bring each character to life. For one role, I even learned a Gangwon Province dialect from a teacher who’s a native, in order to convincingly play a countryside boy.”
He added, “Every episode introduces new main characters, and the way our team tricks them will be a big highlight. The story unfolds with a lot of fun and wit, so I think viewers will really enjoy it from the very first broadcast.”
“Confidence Queen” is set to premiere on September 6 at 9:10 p.m. KST.
