I last wrote about Queenz Eye all the way back in 2023 and can’t remember anything about their music. Such is the fate of too many nugu groups, under-promoted and given infrequent comebacks to the point where everyone but their most dedicated fans forget they exist. With new track Feel The Vibe, they’re back to remind us what they’re all about.
We may be in the dog days of summer, but that doesn’t mean K-pop can’t still offer some refreshing bops to soundtrack the second half of the season. Feel The Vibes‘ music video is all palm trees and lounging by the pool, though its sound feels more suited to late nights driving around town. The song has a pleasant, funky bounce that draws from 90’s hip-hop but with an electronic bent. As its title suggests, listeners will certainly be feeling the vibe.
Unfortunately, Feel The Vibe is little more than this vibe. Its melodies are slight and forgettable, though I appreciate the variation between its verses and chorus. The song has more dynamics than most within this soundscape and feels like a fully fleshed out idea. It’s just not very catchy, and that will prove tricky in the long run for a group hoping to establish themselves for longer than a single promotional period.
