Disney+’s upcoming drama “Tempest” has released the first character stills of Kang Dong Won!
“Tempest” follows Moon Ju (Jun Ji Hyun), a renowned UN ambassador who sets out to uncover the truth behind an assassination attempt on a presidential candidate, and San Ho (Kang Dong Won), a special agent of unknown nationality who must protect her, as they confront a massive truth that threatens the Korean Peninsula.
Kang Dong Won stars as Baek San Ho, a mysterious figure known as the ace of a global mercenary organization—yet his true identity remains a secret. A former member of an elite VIP protection unit, San Ho has carried out countless high-risk missions in war zones like Iraq and is revered for his flawless execution. After rescuing Moon Ju by chance during an assassination attempt on a presidential candidate, he becomes entangled in the unfolding crisis and decides to protect her as she stands on the brink of danger.
The newly released stills capture the many layers of San Ho’s character—from a quiet encounter with Moon Ju at a bus stop to his sharp focus while aiming a gun, and his tense vigilance as he keeps his guard up to protect her from looming threats.
Jun Ji Hyun spoke about working with Kang Dong Won, saying, “There was a pleasant sense of excitement and tension throughout filming. Our chemistry came naturally, and I felt very comfortable acting with him.”
Director Kim Hee Won also praised the actor’s performance, noting, “San Ho is a character who’s striking on the outside, and calm yet strong on the inside. Kang Dong Won brings power to his action scenes while also expressing a subtle inner strength. The contrast makes San Ho incredibly compelling, and Kang Dong Won captured all of that, enhancing the drama’s immersion.”
“Tempest” will premiere with three episodes on September 10, followed by two new episodes weekly starting September 17, for a total of nine episodes. Check out a teaser for the drama here!
