tvN’s upcoming drama “Petty Love” (working title) has shared a glimpse of its first table read!
“Petty Love” is a romantic comedy about the love-hate relationship between an A-list actor who has lost sight of his original goals and an accomplished journalist who has lost her elite status.
In what marks his first drama role in six years, Lee Jung Jae will star as Im Hyun Joon, a famous actor who dreams of becoming a romantic lead, but has been pigeonholed into playing the same detective archetype over and over again. At the script reading, Lee Jung Jae’s skillful comedic acting showcased his years of experience as he brought Im Hyun Joon’s journey of growth to life in a three-dimensional way.
Lim Ji Yeon will star in the drama as Wi Jung Shin, an award-winning political journalist who is demoted to the entertainment desk after becoming entangled in a massive corruption scandal. Not only did Lim Ji Yeon demonstrate her impressive ability to pull off any character, but she also delivered laughs with her amusing portrayal of Wi Jung Shin struggling to adapt to her new life as an entertainment reporter.
Kim Ji Hun made hearts’ flutter with his portrayal of Lee Jae Hyung, a former baseball player who now owns a sports magazine. Lee Jae Hyung is kind and caring to everyone, but he only has eyes for one woman and isn’t afraid to boldly pursue the object of his affections. After meeting Wi Jung Shin, he undergoes a major change.
Seo Ji Hye breathed life into the cold yet gentle character of Yoon Hwa Young, the head of the entertainment division at Lee Jae Hyung’s magazine—and his ex-girlfriend. With her silver tongue and sharp wit, Yoon Hwa Young is the only person who can defeat Wi Jung Shin in a verbal argument.
Other actors present at the script reading included Oh Yeon Seo, who will be making a special appearance in the drama, along with Choi Gwi Hwa, Jeon Seong Woo, Kim Jae Chul, Na Young Hee, Jun Soo Kyung, Kim Hyun Jin, Jin Ho Eun, Kim Bup Rae, and Jo Hee Bong.
“Petty Love” is currently scheduled to air in the second half of 2025.
