The film “My Daughter is a Zombie” has broken the Korean comedy film opening-day audience record!

On July 31, the Korean Film Council’s integrated ticketing network recorded 430,101 moviegoers nationwide for the film on its release day, July 30.

The total not only topped the 2025 Korean box office leader “Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning” with 423,892 moviegoers but also set the all-time highest opening for a Korean comedy film, surpassing “Extreme Job” with 368,582 moviegoers.

It also beat the opening scores of the 10 million-moviegoer hits “Exhuma” with 330,118 moviegoers, “12.12: The Day” with 203,813 moviegoers, and last summer’s top-grossing film “Pilot” with 373,859 moviegoers. With those numbers, it achieved the highest opening score among non-series Korean films released in the past five years, continuing its record-breaking streak.

“My Daughter is a Zombie” is a heartfelt comedy about a devoted father who goes to extreme lengths to protect his daughter, who is the last surviving zombie on Earth. Jo Jung Suk stars as Jung Hwan, a loving father who secretly attempts to train his zombie daughter Soo Ah (Choi Yu Ri).

Congratulations to the cast and crew of “My Daughter is a Zombie”!
