Channel A’s new drama “My Lovely Journey” premieres this week!
Based on a bestselling novel by Maha Harada, “My Lovely Journey” tells the story of a former idol-turned-travel reporter who has never been a “center” in her life. As she takes on travel assignments on behalf of others, she embarks on a journey of self-discovery, coming to understand the true meaning of success and life.
Gong Seung Yeon will star as Kang Yeo Reum, a former idol attempting to make a fresh start as a reporter, while Kim Jae Young will play Lee Yeon Seok, an aspiring film director with an elite engineering degree who quit a prestigious job to pursue his dream.
With less than a week left until the drama’s first episode, here are three reasons to get excited for the upcoming premiere:
1. A realistic story of human healing
Instead of a complicated premise or provocative conflicts, “My Lovely Journey” will tell heartfelt stories based on realistic situations that one might encounter in everyday life.
Each travel destination is linked to a different client’s story, and their relatable experiences and sincere emotions—from feelings of longing to regrets about an unfulfilled dream or courage to make a new start—will naturally resonate with viewers and offer them quiet comfort.
Additionally, viewers will be able to find healing in Yeo Reum’s heartwarming journey from never having been the “center” in her own life to finding a true stage of her own.
2. Breathtaking scenery and vicarious travel
Another charming aspect of “My Lovely Journey” is that it will allow viewers to vicariously follow along on Yeo Reum’s trips. The gorgeous and vivid scenery as Yeo Reum travels across Korea and even heads to Japan will give viewers the chance to see all sorts of beautiful and breathtaking views, and it will make them feel as if they’re really on their own summer vacation.
3. A strong ensemble cast
In addition to Gong Seung Yeon and Kim Jae Young, the drama will star Yoo Joon Sang as Oh Sang Sik, the CEO of Ogu Entertainment. The cast also includes Hong Soo Hyun and Oh Hyun Joong, both of whom will play employees who belong to the Ogu Entertainment family.
