Eric Nam and Ji Young Yoo will be starring together in a new K-pop-themed film!
On July 22 (local time), HYBE America announced that it will co-produce a K-pop-themed film with Paramount Pictures, one of the leading film studios in the United States.
The film will follow the story of a Korean-American girl who, despite her family’s opposition, participates in a televised audition program in hopes of becoming part of the next-generation K-pop girl group.
Ji Young Yoo, who voiced the character Zoey, the youngest member of HUNTR/X in the Netflix animated film “KPop Demon Hunters,” and Eric Nam, who played surgical resident Jonah Yoon in last year’s Hollywood movie “Transplant,” have been cast in the lead roles.
The film is slated for theatrical release on February 12, 2027, with filming set to begin in mid-September this year. It will be shot entirely in South Korea, marking the first time a major Hollywood studio has filmed an entire production in South Korea.
Directed by Benson Lee and written by Eileen Shim, the production team includes James Shin, President of Film and TV Division at HYBE America, and Arthur Spector, Joshua Davis, and Scooter Braun of Epic Magazine. Joshuah Bearman, John Zaozirny, and Scott Manson of Epic Magazine will serve as executive producers. Bryan Oh, Senior Vice President at Paramount Pictures, will oversee the entire project on behalf of the studio.
