ENA’s upcoming drama “The Defects” has unveiled character posters of its four leads!

Based on a popular webtoon, “The Defects” is an action thriller about children who have been abandoned by their adoptive parents—and their fight for survival and revenge.

Yum Jung Ah will star as Kim Se Hee, the chairwoman of a major hospital and the head of a charitable foundation, who secretly runs an illegal adoption ring based on the twisted belief that only superior genes deserve to survive. In her poster, the cold look in her eyes matches the chilling tagline: “Because the work I do is creating humans.”

Yum Jung Ah described “The Defects” as “a drama with a message about children who are neglected and abandoned within an extreme premise that must never exist in reality.” She went on to promise, “Both fans of the original webtoon and viewers who still don’t know much about the drama will enjoy the show more than they could have imagined.”

Won Jin Ah will star as Kim Ah Hyun, a girl who was returned after being adopted and nearly lost her life, but miraculously managed to survive. Her poster captures her vengeful anger as the leader of the surviving children, with the caption reading, “The parents who disposed of us, now we are going to dispose of them.”

Won Jin Ah remarked, “I hope many people will root for the children who fight for their lives and freedom without surrendering to their difficult and painful reality.”

Choi Young Joon will play the role of Woo Tae Sik, a character whose guilt drives him to risk everything to secretly rescue and protect the children who have been returned. His poster captures his protective instinct and strong sense of responsibility, with his caption promising, “I’ll save you.”

“Please join us in watching the journey of these children regaining their lives,” said Choi Young Joon, before emphasizing that the premise of “The Defects” is “something that should never happen.”

“Although it’s something that shouldn’t happen in reality, it’s a premise that might not be complete fiction,” he continued. “The world [of ‘The Defects’] is a shocking one, but please pay close attention to the truth captured within that world.”

Finally, Dex will play Jung Hyun, a human weapon raised by Kim Se Hee who faithfully carries out her orders. In his poster, Kim Jung Hyun points a gun at someone while chillingly declaring, “You are all defective products. Who aren’t worthy of being alive.”

Dex, who did most of his own action scenes, remarked, “I prepared the drama with love, so I hope you’ll enjoy it.” He also chose the phrase “combination pizza” to sum up the drama, explaining, “Just like a combination pizza is made by combining different ingredients, ‘The Defects’ can only be completed by gathering characters with different backstories and colors.”

“The Defects” will premiere on July 21 at 10 p.m. KST.
