Recently, a man in his 70s was arrested and sent to prison for sexually harassing and attempting to kidnap a third-grade female student.
According to JTBC’s Crime Chief, they reported on the kidnap attempt, which happened on May 22 at around 8:10 AM in Namyangju, Gyeonggi-do.
The informant revealed they watched their daughter go to school from the apartment veranda. Then, a black sedan approached the daughter, opened the window, and tried to talk to her. The informant shouted, “Don’t get in!” as the daughter touched the passenger door.
According to the informant, the driver lured the daughter in by saying, “I’m an uncle who lives in building 302.” However, building 302 did not exist. The informant revealed that when they asked the daughter, she just cried.
It was revealed that the man continuously approached the child for two days before the incident. He told her, “Let’s go to the farm,” while waiting for the school bus, and even bought her gum and toys at the convenience store.
The man was also found to have sexually assaulted the child by taking her to an alley without CCTV.
The police arrested the man six days after the incident. They also found condoms, erectile dysfunction medications, and an unknown liquid believed to be an aphrodisiac in his vehicle.
The black box camera in his car was removed, and the unknown liquid has been sent to the National Institute for Scientific Investigation for analysis.
The man denied the kidnapping charges during the investigation, saying, “The child greeted me first and I just tried to take her to the bus stop.” He also partially admitted to the sexual assault by responding, “I touched her once.”
The location where he attempted to kidnap her was only 30 meters away from the school bus stop.
The police arrested the man and sent him to prosecution on charges of attempted enticement of a minor and forced molestation of a minor under the age of 13.
The informant responded, “I’m worried that the man’s sentence will be reduced because he is old and it is his first offense. My daughter yells loudly and can’t calm down. She has trouble sleeping because she is anxious.”
